Project ShareIT

The project

ShareIT is a research project sponsored by Aerospace Valley. The goal of the project is to design and test touch interfaces to be shared by the pilot and co-pilot in the cockpit of an aircraft. This requires multitouch technologies and the project involves:
  • hardware design, done by Stantum
  • operational expertise, brought by ENAC
  • requirement analysis and tests, done by Thales Avionics
  • interface design and prototyping, done by IntuiLab
  • software support for multitouch, done by our lab at ENAC.
ShareIT started in early 2008 for three years.

    Our contribution

    The lab's involvment includes:
  • analysis of existing multitouch devices
  • production of drivers for multitouch devices
  • work on models of input management that support mutitouch interaction
  • production of an input management layer in the Istar environment

    Public resources

  • a description of multitouch interaction and related technical issues
  • a list of available multitouch devices
  • Linux drivers for multitouch devices
  • X.org patch for multipoint interaction with multitouch devices
  • analysis of the N-Trig DuoSense device and its firmware versions
